A "Monitrice" is a labor coach and consumer advocate, a labor support person who has special training, usually in nursing, midwifery, or related field.

While I am primarily a Midwife, I still occasionally attend births as a Monitrice. Having the extra clinical skills, I can help you stay home with more information about your labor, longer. I can begin to see you to start your care from the beginning of your pregnancy, meeting monthly, until you deliver your baby. Monitrice clients are typically patients of CNM's or Ob's, delivering in the hospital.
