In the summer of 2006, I attended my first birth-my good friend was birthing her 3rd biological child, and I was invited!I got to hang out with her in the earlier stages of labor at home and through the night before we went to the hospital. I loved every minute of it and that made my wheels start turning about assisting women in labor as a profession! I then sought out how to become a childbirth assistant and realized there was a name, Doula!
